Night Diving

My Night Diving Experience. Several years ago, A Couple of friends and I were diving in Key Largo. Somebody mentioned that a few were going Night Diving. I thought, didn’t we just finish diving today? A friend told me that I hadn’t dived until I had gone Diving at night. What the heck! I’ll try it!

What an Adventure! It was scary as the captain drove the boat out to the same place we had dived earlier that day. It was dark! I put my gear on as usual. Got my light out and waited my turn to dive in. Man, I couldn’t see a thing! I turned my light on and WOW! The ocean was full of fish! Apparantly, The light was drawing the fish in. There was a Barracuda staring me right in my face. Somebody earlier had said “you don’t have to worry about the Barracuda you can see they are just curious. They travel so fast, It’s the one that gets a running start that you have to worry about! So, I looked down on the ocean floor. It looked like an expressway during rush traffic. Everything comes out when darkness takes over. I remember thinking there isn’t a place to touch down on the ocean floor, so I set my Bouyancy Compensator Vest so I would float. Then I realized that I could see ahead with the light but it was real dark behind me!! I kept turning the whole time. Always wondering what was behind me. I will never forget this adventure. Scuba Diving at night is all that!

I do recommend bringing an extra flashlight and an extra heavy duty one at that!

The ride home was cold too. The night air on wet skin makes it extra cold. I used the inside cabin on the way home. I didn’t think to bring an extra change of dry clothes.

I would love to go Night Diving soon again .
